Our precious, cherished and beloved Tasha Marie Mellett went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2020. Tasha was surrounded by our family and pets, at home, where she peacefully became God’s newest Angel.
Tasha loved to laugh and her smile would light up the room from a mile away. Tasha was the most amazing and loving Mother to James Coleman (16) and Anaise Marie Mellett (13); Wife to her Husband of 20 years, James Patrick Mellett III, and best friend to all of us. Tasha was the loving Daughter of Reginald and Annemarie Cobb, and protective big Sister to her Brother, Trevin. Tasha had countless and wonderful relationships with so many friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, as well as so many amazing family, friends and especially the “girlfriend network and Team Tasha,” who were with Tasha and our family every single step of this journey. We are so very grateful for those family and friends, we are truly thankful for your love, help and support.
Tasha is a warrior that battled headstrong, with dignity, strength and grace. She is the toughest person we know. Tasha was also highly educated, intelligent, and achieved her Masters in Education. She was an amazing teacher in Weston for many years. She put her career on hold when our children were born so she could focus 100% on our kids. Everyday as they grew was a new play date and a new adventure. Every meal was home cooked and every night was family time reading to Cole and Ani. As they grew, she became a very successful Real Estate Broker, but mostly part time to still focus on the kids and our family.
Tasha is an amazing athlete and loved the ocean. Tasha and Jim got engaged on a Sailboat in Hawaii 22 years ago and chose to always live within a short drive to the ocean and many beaches.
Growing up, she loved and excelled in soccer, softball, tennis and gymnastics. Tasha was the most graceful skier, and most recently in December of 2019, had the chance to hang out with and ski with Bode Miller in Vail.
Over the past many years, that athleticism showed up on our backyard ice rink and volleyball court. Adult or child alike, Tasha was never afraid to spike the ball for the game winner or check you off the ice to steal the puck, and look at you after with a grin and a twinkle in her smile that said ‘there’s more where that came from!” Always the good sport, Tasha would afterwards make gluten-free brownies to be shared over the fire pit as we laughed and exchanged stories of our backyard tournaments, she was such an amazing competitor and loving Mom and Wife. Tasha loved music. If you wanted to hear some of her favorite songs, especially over the past 5 years, here is a sampling of the exact versions Tasha would love. We think of Tasha always when we hear these songs, play them loud and harness all of the emotions of strength and joy that Tasha would use to power through any obstacle, like a Boss:
Tasha is loving, caring and kind. Tasha will be with us for every glorious sunrise and each majestic sunset. She is the wind in our sails, the gentle waves of the ocean, and the double rainbow shining brightly after the storm. Tasha is all around us, everyday. We love you, honey, and thank you for giving us the gift of what true love really means.

In lieu of flowers, just simply celebrate our sweet angel, Tasha. Live. Laugh. Love. Be in the moment, dance to the music and play the air drums as loud as you can, and then go take your family out for ice cream. This is how Tasha lived; we will forever cherish her spirit and honor the joyful presence she brought into our world. God bless you, Tasha, we love you so much, and you are as free as a bird, as free as a hummingbird.
At a later date, we will celebrate Tasha’s life with a private Hawaiian Lei ceremony at Sea, at Full Sail, on Tasha’s favorite Sailboat, The Tantallon.

Gone From My Sight:
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, ‘There, she is gone’
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me – not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, ‘There, she is gone,’
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, ‘Here she comes!”
